Quiz Quest - Fully customizable

So I had recently moved to France and being swedish my 7 year old son had to go to a french school and learn french. I had the idea for this customizable quiz game when he was struggling with spelling numbers and was of course not interested in practicing the regular way.

I made this RPG-style game where you get hearts and battle monsters by answering  questions. 

Customizable content:

- Update the levels.json file with your own questions and answers. (There are example questions, easy to replace)

- Each question can be associated with a monster. Replace the monsters with other graphics or use the ones available.

- The quiz can be split up into different levels depending on difficulty. Each level has its own background and set of monsters/questions. Replace the background image for each level or use the ones available.

Instructions:

- Unzip the zip-file

- In the game folder there is a data folder

- Open the levels.json file in notepad or other text editor (not word though, since it will add formatting) or use an online json editor like https://jsonformatter.org/json-editor

- Replace questions and answers, add new questions and answers

- Set if the level should randomize the questions or not

- Use the monsters and background graphics or replace with your own, be sure to update the path to the images in the levels.json file.

- Start the game, the game may ask for permission to read the folder it is located in, allow it so it can read the game data. 

Troubleshooting:

- If you encounter "Error loading levels.json" error on Mac when running the game and you haven't touched the file, then open a terminal and go to the game folder and run the following:

xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine ./quiz-quest.app

- If you encounter "Error loading levels.json" after making changes to the file then there is an error in your changes, use a json checker to find the errors such as: https://jsonformatter.org/json-editor

Pay what you want with stretch goals:

I made this game to help my son learn french, use it for whatever reason you want, party quiz game, teaching tool, role-playing.

I will update the game if people buy it, here are some fun ideas I have for features that can be added:

- Add user-friendly level editor in-game instead of external files
